Tokatoka
The Fijian extended family unit is known as a Tokatoka, and includes uncles, aunts and cousins as well as the immediate family.
Several Tokatoka make up the essential “sub-clan’ structure of a Fijian village known as a Mataqali.
In turn, several Mataqali make up a Yavusa, and finally the Yavusa are joined together into the overall land owning unit known as a Vanua.
Naiseuseu and Naceva villages are in one Yavusa, made up of six Mataqali, with members of the Matarua, Moaro, Lawaki, Kulu and Naibale Mataqali living in Naceva village, and most of the Kauvala Mataqali living in Naiseuseu, but all still strongly linked by their traditional bonds
