Village round walk
Lawaki-Naiseuseu-Naceva-Lawaki
THE VILLAGE CIRCUIT
This locally guided walk takes you on a circular loop passed the villages of Naiseuseu and Naceva. The route takes you through village gardens and native forest, up hills and along the beach, providing great views along the way. For etiquette reasons you won't go into the villages themselves, unless prior arrangements have been made. π
CHOOSE YOUR DIRECTION
The walk can be done in either direction according to the tides, with the beach section is harder to navigate at high tide.
Lawaki-Naiseuseu (2km)
Starting at Lawaki the path takes you behind the dorm, through Lawaki's garden and up to the water tanks. From here it's a 500m climb to the highest point on the walk, marked by a small hut with views out to Yanuca Island. The path continues in front of the hut. After 1 50m you take a right fork that drops steeply down eastwards towards Naiseuseu. As you approach the village stop to admire the the impressive baka tree.
Naiseuseu to Naceva (2km)
Skirting around the village you join a well-trodden path and turn along it southwards, heading up hill. This path runs between Naiseuseu and Naceva on the other side of the ridge. Children use it to get to and from school every day. Heading towards the large mango trees you follow this path up and over and then down into Naceva. The high point on the ridge makes or a good lunch spot wth views back down to Naiseseu and across to the main island, Viti Levu.
Naceva to Lawaki (3.5km)
From Naceva you follow the beach to the right and west. Itβs a pleasant stroll along the sand with views out to the reef. After 1 .5km you pass Kulu Bay Resort and some magnificent trees overhanging the beach. From there it's an easy 2km to Lawaki.
